Having booked a weekend in Venice in February, we felt justified in thinking that we'd have the place to ourselves. A week before we left I discovered that the carnival was on that weekend. The place was heaving, not least with swarms of photographers with back-breaking amounts of gear, but the experience was unforgettable, and the extra day we stayed on beyond the end of the Carnival felt strangely anticlimactic.

Technical Information
B&W pictures taken with Contax G1 and exposed on HP5. They were the first films I ever developed myself - hence the quirky effects! The colour photos are taken on Fuji Press800 print film with a Fuji medium format rangefinder. I scanned the negatives on an Epson 4990 scanner, and edited in Photoshop Elements.
